We’ve enabled closed captions so that instructors can now upload caption files in the course creation screen in any language. Once an instructor uploads subtitles to a lecture, they are not only able to reach new students but also offer a different way for current students to successfully engage with their course and learn new skills.

So, how does it work? Once in the course creation screen, select a language from the drop down menu under the new “CAPTION” tab. Then, upload a .srt, .vtt, or .dfxp caption file. There are many useful tools to easily create a compatible caption file, such as cielo24 or others here.

Once the caption file is uploaded to the lecture, it will look like this:

Select “Preview” in the upper right corner to preview the captioned lecture, and then publish to finalize. Students will be able to view the new subtitles by clicking the “cc” button on the play reel below.

cc3Currently, we have around 100 closed captioned courses – keep ‘em coming!
