chakra colorsThe more you learn about Chakras and how important they are in the proper function and flow of your body’s spiritual and mental energy, the more you will want to maintain proper Chakra balance throughout your body by keeping the Chakras that your spirit needs, open.

There are seven Chakras in our body’s pool of energy, all of which help to contribute to our well-being.  Depending on circumstances or the individual, some Chakras may not be fully open, some may be over-active, and there may be some that are closed.  Let’s take a look at how you can open each of your Chakras to find the personal balance and inner peace that your body desires.

Open the Root Chakra

Opening your Root Chakra will keep you feeling balanced, sensible, stable, and secure.  Become aware of your body and use it to the best of your ability.  For instance, try yoga, walk, and clean.

  1. Ground yourself by connecting with the earth and feeling it resonate beneath you.  To try this out, stand up in a straight and relaxed position.  Place your feet shoulder width apart, and bend your knees slightly. Move your pelvis forward a little, and keep your body balanced with your weight evenly distributed over the soles of your feet.  Now, sink your weight forward and remain in this position for several minutes.
  2. After you practice grounding, sit cross-legged and allow the tips of your thumb and index finger to touch gently.
  3. Silently but clearly chant the word “LAM.”

Open the Sacral Chakra

The Sacral chakra deals with an individual’s feelings and sexuality.  When this chakra is opening feelings can be released and are expressed in a productive manner.

  1. Sit on your knees with your back straight and allow yourself to be relaxed.
  2. Place your hands in your lap with your palms ups and on top of each other
  3. Concentrate on the Sacral Chakra at the lower back of your body.  Think about what it stands for.
  4. Silently, but clearly chant the word “VAM.”
  5. Allow yourself to consider how you want your Sacral Charkra to affect your life.
  6. Continue doing this until you are completely relaxed.  At the end, you should be left with a “clean” feeling.

Open the Navel Chakra

The Navel Chakra represents group confidence.  When opened, one should feel in control of themselves with dignity.

  1. Sit on your knees, with your back straight and keep relaxed.
  2. Place your hands under your stomach area below your solar plexus.  Allow your fingers to join at the top, with all of them pointing away from you.  Cross your thumbs and straighten your fingers.
  3. Concentrate on purpose of the Navel Chakra and what it stands for.
  4. Silently but clearly chant the word “RAM.”
  5. While you are doing this, take the time to think about the chakra, it’s meaning, and how you want it to affect your life.
  6. Continue doing this until you feel completely relaxed and at ease.  You should experience a “clean” feeling at the end.

Open the Heart Chakra

The Heart Chakra will focus on love, caring, and endearment.  When your Heart Chakra is open, you will be compassionate, friendly, and experience good relationships.

  1. Sit in a cross-legged position.
  2. Allow the tips of your index finger and thumb touch on both of your hands.
  3. Place your left hand on your left knee and your right hand in front of the lower part of your breastbone.
  4. Focus on the Heart Chakra and what it stands for.
  5. Silently but clearly chant the word “YAM.”
  6. Keep your body relaxed and think about how you want the Heart Chakra to affect your life.
  7. Continue doing this until you feel completely relaxed and at ease.  You should experience a “clean” feeling at the end.

Open the Throat Chakra

  1. Sit on your knees.
  2. Cross your fingers on the inside of your hands with your thumbs outward.  Allow your thumbs to touch at the top.
  3. Concentrate on the Throat Chakra at the base of your throat.
  4. Silently but clearly chant the word “HAM.”
  5. At this time keep your body relaxed and reflect on how you want your Throat Chakra to enter your life.
  6. Continue doing this until you feel completely relaxed and at ease.  You should experience a “clean” feeling at the end.

chakrasOpen the Crown Chakra

The Crown Chakra is the final and most spiritual chakra.  It encompasses an individual’s overall well- being with the universe.  When the Crown Chakra is open, you rid yourself of prejudice, and you become more aware of the world and the connection that you have with it.

  1. Sit with your legs crossed.
  2. Lay your hand before your stomach area and allow your little fingers to point up and away from you.  Keep your fingers touching at the top and cross the rest of your fingers with your thumbs.
  3. Concentrate on the Crown Chakra and at the very top of your head.
  4. Silently but clearly chant the sound “NG”
  5. Continue doing this until you feel completely relaxed and at ease.  You should experience a “clean” feeling at the end.
  6. This meditation is the longest, and should take no less than ten minutes.

Tip:  Do not use this meditation for the Crown Chakra if your Root Chakra is not strong or open.  Before dealing with your Crown Chakra, you need a strong “foundation” first.
